Already, since Thursday September 24th 2015, the
Jamaica Customs Agency has begun boosting security and staff in anticipation of
a very busy Christmas period for Jamaicans.
Commissioner of Customs, Major Richard Reese has announced
additional personnel to be deployed at the airports and Seaports as reported in
by the Horses’ Mouth, in the Jamaica Information Service article “Customs
to Implement Measures for Busy Christmas Season”, published September 28,
2015 By Latonya Linton, The Jamaica Information

Commissioner of Customs, Major Richard Reese made this
announcement at the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce’s (JCC) Customs Tariff and Port
Users Committee at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston, which was held on
Thursday September 24th 2015.
In fact, online purchases are on the rise according to the
Jamaica Customs Agency compared to the same period in October 2014.
So much so that the Jamaica Customs Agency is considering
the idea of making the importation of items that cost only US$100 Custom Duty
free as I'd reported in my blog article
