It's now officially here, WhatsApp Fans!

As of today, April 23rd 2015, WhatsApp users can now make WhatsApp Voice calls with the latest update of WhatsApp Version 2.12.1 on both the Google Play Store and the Apple iTunes Store as reported in the article “WhatsApp adds free voice call feature”, published 22 April 2015, BBC News.

First off the bat, click the Frequently Asked Questions on WhatsApp Calling for more details. If you want to get the scoop, the continue reading below.

This latest announcement comes after WhatsApp announced on they've achieved 800 million Monthly active users on their Mobile Social Media platform as reported in the article “WhatsApp touts 800M monthly active users”, published April 18, 2015 by Nate Ralph, CNET News.

WhatsApp Calling had originally launched as an invitation only Test of the Calling Feature in February 2015 as reported in my blog article entitled “WhatsApp Testing Free Voice Calling - Why Free Local, International Calling over 4G LTE may soon be Possible”.

They later followed up with a WhatsApp 2.12.19 APK (Android Application Package) on Tuesday March 31st 2015 that gave the privilege to only those technically adept enough to download and install WhatsApp using an APK package as noted in my blog article entitled “@WhatsApp Voice Calling on @google @Android smartphones – Why only WhatsApp 2.12.19 APK as Mobile Calling coming”.

So now finally, the full featured WhatsApp Calling service is available in WhatsApp Version 2.12.1 on both Google Play Store and in the Apple iTunes Store.

WhatsApp Calling now on Apple iPhones – Wi-Fi Calling by Proxy coming to Jamaica

Google Android and Apple iPhone users now have full access to the WhatsApp Calling feature, which is no different from making calling on your mobile phone using credit. No more pesky Voice notes; you can now enjoy a full conversation instead of leaving Voice notes and waiting on your friend to pick up can send you a Voice note telling you they got the message.

The only limitation is that you can only makes call to other Smartphone with WhatsApp installed and not to Local and International Landline and Mobile numbers. At least not yet, as I suspect that may be in the pipeline.

With this latest update, WhatsApp Version 2.12.1, Jamaican can basically ditch adding Prepaid Voucher Credit as described in my Geezam blog article entitled “The Prepaid Cycle and How Prepaid Credit gives your SIM Card access to the Prepaid Network”.

In fact, it'll basically change the way EVERYBODY uses their smartphone as predicted in the article “FACEBOOK’S WHATSAPP WILL BE HOW THE WORLD MAKES PHONE CALLS”, published 04.22.15 by CADE METZ , Wired.  Basically with WhatsApp Calling, you can just buy an unlocked smartphone with a Data Plan or even ditch having a Data Plan and use free Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi at Home, effectively making Wi-Fi Calls.

So what’s so special about WhatsApp Version 2.12.1 that makes it worth updating? Aside from the Voice Calling, the new update comes Jam-packed with some new features.
