Apple iPhone and Hardware Quality - The Count of Monte Cristo Hard Knock Life

Fame is the spur that the clear spirit doth raise
(That last infirmity of noble mind)
To scorn delights, and live laborious days

Happy Fourth Anniversary Apple iPhone!!

This entire week is being celebrated as the Fourth Anniversary of the launch of the Apple iPhone, the gift from Apple CEO Steve Jobs that defined what a smartphone really is as stated in the article “iPhone turns 4: Early predictions rewound”, published JUNE 29, 2011 4:00 AM PDT by Josh Lowensohn, CNET News - Apple Talk.

I could end the article here, as it would be perfect, save for the fact that I am not that type of person. Its evolution over the four (4) years from the first Generation Apple iPhone to the 3G, then the 3GS and finally the current Apple iPhone 4 has been quite an extraordinary journey for all fans of Apple’s standard bearer as stated in the article “Four years of the iPhone”, published JUNE 29, 2011 4:13 PM PDT by Kent German, CNET News - iPhone Atlas.

Especially the moment I first saw it opened on CNET News by Brian Cooley, then Editor-At-Large:

Especially as the Apple iPhone 4 is now on Telecom Provider LIME’s 3G Network as stated in my blog article entitled “LIME and the Apple iPhone 4 - The Young and the Restless Gone in Sixty Seconds”.

Trying to figure out Apple is like trying to figure out an Apple – the eating kind. Expensive as hell, yet people desire it products so much, they would sell their body parts.

This is not a joke people as a thirteen (13) year old teenager, did sell his kidney to get an Apple iPad 2 in China as stated in the article “Report: Teen sells kidney to buy iPad 2”, published JUNE 2, 2011 10:29 AM PDT by Chris Matyszczyk, CNET News - Technically Incorrect.

I know the Apple iPad 2 is the greatest as evident in my homage article on the Geezam Blog entitled “Apple iPad 2 – Dual-Core Easy Skankin’”, but damn man!

So I will leave the Marketing people to tussle over the conundrum, merely accepting the fact that this standard bearer that defined the smartphone also influenced the first generation Apple iPad as stated in my blog article entitled “Apple iPad and the future of Mobile Computing”.

GigaOM Ryam Kim article “The iPhone Effect: How Apple’s phone changed everything’, published June 29, 2011, 6:32am PT By Ryan Kim, GigaOM lays out the statistics that indicate the degree to which the Apple iPhone has influenced everything, including the Apple iPad, which is, really, a bigger version of the Apple iPhone.

The Apple iPhone is now on Telecom Provider Verizon in the form of the Apple iPhone 4 as stated in my blog article entitled “Verizon and the Apple iPhone 4 - The Golden Fleece” and the article “Telecom Providers and Data - Verizon gets their wish”.

Apple shareholders, too, have benefitted tremendously in the Stock Market from the roaring success of the Apple iPhone and the Apple iPad its value skyrocketed over the four (4) years:

I should know, as when I got the chance during a Redundancy interview with Nurse Gunning back in the Fourth Quarter of 2003AD (again my suspicions are of a hidden audio visual recording device), I suggested the very same design for a phone based on the Palm Pilot, sans the stylus and the many buttons, all replaced with a capacitive touch screen and a single home button.

Then in 2009AD, I designed the Apple iPad by suggesting that Apple iPhone be made bigger, an event witnessed by a bunch of Shurpower Engineers in April of 2009AD, again most likely recorded via some hidden audio visual device in the moving vehicle.

So my connection to both devices is solid.

And so is the hardware.

This segway based on the statistics of United Kingdom Marketing analyst WDC, involving analyzing six hundred thousand (600,000) hundred thousand (600,000) Call Centers in North America, Canada, Europe and South Africa over a one (1) years period as stated in the article Android Smartphones 4x More Likely To Break Than BlackBerrys”, published June 23, 2011 03:13 PM by Eric Zeman, InformationWeek.

The article “Study: Android Phones More Prone to Hardware Problems”, published June 23, 2011 12:14pm EST by Mark Hachman, PCWold provides “backative” to my claim.

The Apple iPhone shine in terms of its hardware quality, with all that attention to detail resulting in only 8% of all call to Call Centers in the countries in the study being about problems with the Apple iPhone hardware problems. The figures below do the Apple iPhone justice:
Interpreted the proper way, it would appear that despite Google Android’s Global dominance in the smartphone space, thanks to the lack of QC (Quality Control) standard from Google on the hardware makers, the Android OS is merely being cosmetically placed in smartphones that are of an inferior design that fail easily.

A boon to the smartphone makers, but a hassle for customers getting the bad end of the deal!

This is further compounded by fragmentation i.e. too many versions of Android running on so many dissimilar devices, a night mare for Developers and smartphone owners who want to keep their phone up to date.

Thus despite their great specs, the owner of an Android better beware that they either are good at troubleshooting problems with the phone or they too will swell the statistics of people calling Call Centers complaining about hardware problems on their device.

So the Apple iPhone shines, just falling 4.3% behind the Blackberry, whose hardware durability probably (jokingly) came from RIM having made them so many times and not fiddling to much with the basic design as opined in my Geezam Blog article entitled “Android smartphones may be king in 2015AD, but RIM Blackberry quality shines”.

Truly, the Apple iPhone is testimony to a phone made well, taking its revenge on the RIM Blackberry, The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) Style. Which based on the latest statistics, is losing marketshare in the US and globally as stated in my blog article entitled “Nokia + Microsoft vs HP Web OS - Gartner's Ocean's Eleven Plan to Rob the Casino” and the article “Apple + Android beat Nokia + RIM Globally - Regina Beaver's La Dolce Vita

Again Happy Fourth Anniversary Apple iPhone!!
