Alternative Energy and Telecom Providers - An Environmental Marketing Strategy

{19:35}  Ye  shall  do  no  unrighteousness  in  judgment,  in meteyard,  in  weight,  or  in measure.
{19:36}  Just  balances, just  weights,  a  just  ephah,  and  a  just  hin,  shall  ye  have:  I
[am]  the  LORD  your  God,  which  brought  you  out  of  the land  of  Egypt.

Leviticus 19 vs 35 to 36

With the discovery by a now shell shocked John Public in the wake of the Aftermath of the Tivoli Gardens War (sounds like the title of a movie, isn’t it?) that the majority of people living in Tivoli Gardens, reputed stronghold of the notorious Christopher “Dudus” Coke were not paying any utility bills for Light and Water meanwhile we tax-paying nine-to-five people.

This taken of course from Dolly Parton Repertoire, have now firmly placed the spotlight on the efficiency of our Utility Companies, be the Telecoms Providers, Sewage, NWC (National Water Commission) and JPS Co (Jamaica Public Service company Limited), especially JPS Co, as they yet again seek and have been granted another rate hike.

This makes my article on my blog article entitled “Alternative Energy - A Telecom Provider's Strong Tower” look prophetic and the statements of Rodwin Green in his stirring analysis to the editor of the Jamaica Gleaner which speaks to the distortion of the fact by this most important of driver of economic growth as stated in the “LETTER OF THE DAY - Misleading JPS Advertising”, published Friday June 11, 20100, The Jamaica Gleaner.

This appears to be a squeaky wheel growing louder, now amplified by the concerns of the JHTA (Jamaica Hotel and Tourism Association) and the PSOJ (Private Sector Organization of Jamaica) that seem to have suddenly found their voices are now along with Mr. Samuda, President of the JCC (Jamaica Chamber of Commerce). John Public is demanding “just balances, just weights”.

They [Private Sector] are protesting along with the rest of John Public, of yet another rate hike of approximately 4.7%, based on the First News, aired Tuesday June 15 2010 by Simone Clarke-Cooper, Smile Jamaica, Television Jamaica.

This despite the OUR (Office of Utilities Regulation), the assumed defender of the public trust in the face of tyrannical Utility Companies, justifying the Rate Increase by stating that it is contractually obligated to them and it took into account:

The recent appreciation in the Jamaican Dollar against the US Dollar on the Money Market
The soft demand for Oil, not to mention the tumbling fortunes of BP on the Mercantile Exchange
The sociological implications as it portends to the perception of Fossil Fuel derived Energy.

It hurts even more when one realizes that JPS Co is stuck in the past with inefficient engineering equipment making nearly JA$9 billion in profit and yet STILL not making strides to change or modify its existing Generator Technology to use more efficient LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) Gas Turbine Generators and pass on these efficiency gains to customer in the form of lower Energy costs.

Truly, it now appears that Alternative Energy is indeed the “strong tower” of Telecom Providers going forward, as JPS Co is not meting out “just weights” to its biggest Customers and Subscribers, the Private Sector representative of Local Manufacturers, Corporate Entities and FDI (Foreign Direct Investors) and the Tourism Sector, of which John Public admits was blissfully unaware of being affected by the high Energy costs, save for the usual usage of air conditioning, equipment and lighting.

Telecom Providers, interestingly, have the opportunity to strike an eagle, in golf parlance, by using Alternative Energy as a Marketing Tool and a Business Venture to win Customers and Subscribers, specifically Telecom Provider CLARO, which has been pushing the mantra of cost savings on the Customers and Subscribers for quite a while. But how would that work?

In my my blog article entitled “Blackberry Bashing - The phone I hate so much that I would give it away for free” and further re-stated in my blog article entitled “CLARO and data - Improvements for the Summer and Christmas of 2010”. I had posited the idea of a completely FREE mobile device, in exchange for a phone from the competitor, as in my book; there is nothing that is “smart” about the Blackberry when compared to the Apple iPhone and the trend that it started.

Telecom Provider CLARO made an attempt at this idea in the last quarter of 2009 by giving away mobile phones in exchange for a Telecom Provider CLARO mobile handset and from all accounts (inclusive of the rants on TechJamaica!!) it was a success, as its intent was really to gauge user acceptance for such a promotion, and not necessarily an attempt to profit from the giveaway of phones.

Based on the response of the crowd, the Phone Giveaway Experiment was a success, and thus the reason for my positing and promoting the idea in a further follow up my blog article entitled “CLARO and MNP - Happy Birthday and no more stones or snakes”, which states one of the obvious benefits of MNP (Mobile Number Portability)

Or its sister, MRSI (Mandatory Registration of Subscriber Information), the potential of which has now been realized by Senator Dwight Nelson, Minister of National Security, as stated in my blog article entitled “CLARO Backs Cell Phone Tracking Plan; Digicel, LIME in Wait-And-See Mode”, published Sunday May 16, 2010 by Mark Titus, Business Reporter, The Jamaica Gleaner.

His decision to pursue MRSI as being pursued by the Government of Mexico as suggested in the Reuters report in the news report by CNET Loaded aired April 12 2010 by Natalie Del Conte, CNET News, CBS,  CNET News  and confirmed by the “Mexico mayshut down 25.9 million cell phones which haven't joined Registry”, published April 11, 2010 - 11:45pm by MacRonin, Privacy Digest is logical

There is an obvious link to criminals or “badmen” as laid out in my blog article entitled "Mexico and MNP: A Solution to Crime in Mexico”,  who use Unregistered Mobile Phones, Phone Instruments (mobile, fixed line mobile, landline or wired /wireless modems) IMEI and SIM Cards (mobile, fixed line mobile, landline or wired /wireless modems) IMSI to organize crime.

This is because the Registration of Mobile Phone Numbers, Phone Instruments (mobile, fixed line mobile, landline or wired /wireless modems) IMEI and SIM Cards (mobile, fixed line mobile, landline or wired /wireless modems) IMSI using Government of Jamaica approved identification i.e. Voters ID, Drivers License, Passport, TRN, Birth Certificate positively identifies every mobile phone.

Thus it makes identifying persons on the Telecom Provider Network a snap, thus paving the way for a host of VAS (Value Added Services), such as Free Postpaid Mobile phones, which is essentially what is being posited in my blog article entitled “CLARO and Data - Improvements for the Summer and Christmas of 2010” .

It is a means by which Mobile Smart Phones can be sold as POS (Point of Sales) devices as elucidated in my non-technical dissertation in my blog article entitled “CLARO and Square - The App of the Year 2010 and CLARO's Savior”.

There is also another promotional concept based around a free giveaway, and it relates to the retrofitting of vehicles with a LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) tanks with a switch, enabling vehicles to switch from using Diesel or E10 Gasoline to LPG as explained in blog article entitled, “LPG and the Challenger Transport Co Ltd - A Cheaper Fuel”.

This service, which is being offered by Challenger Transport Company Ltd (926-6414), would save people with motor vehicles on refueling, as LPG is currently selling at half the cost of Diesel or E10 Gasoline and burns reliably in your car with the same performance, acceleration and improved mileage as Diesel or E10 Gasoline.

In fact, it is actually better than Diesel or E10 Gasoline, as it not only burns cleanly and is good for your engine as it produces less carbon buildup, but because LPG is a gas upon entering the combustion chamber, no Energy needs to be wasted to convert the fuel into a spray in order to achieve combustion both in a Diesel or Gasoline based on the Otto Cycle, hence the conversion to Energy is more efficient.

Thus Telecom Provider CLARO Jamaica, a subsidiary of AMX (America Movil), can, in partnership with Challenger Transport Company Ltd (926-6414), go into business by setting up LPG pumping stations, the obvious connection, as the Mexicans are currently in the process of constructing a US$6 billion dollar Refinery to be done by petroleum interest PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos).

A link evident from the mysteriously and hastily commissioned  two (2) week restoration of a 15-foot statue named El Atlante de Tula by Mexican Ambassador to Jamaica, Leonora Rueda as stated in the article “year”, published Thursday April 1st 2010, by Nadisha Hunter, Gleaner Writer, The Jamaica Gleaner which by the way is a Mexican Sex God.

With this obvious connection, Challenger Transport Company Ltd (926-6414) can thus become the platform for which PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos), with assistance from Telecom Provider CLARO from a logistical and promotional point of view, can enter into the lucrative Energy Market without having to invest in heavy infrastructure.

Merely only seeking partnerships with potential franchise holders who already have a LPG Filling Station to have additional ports retrofitted to deliver LPG to motor vehicles, possibly via Gas Pro (928-7301) and IGL Gas Ltd (923-8434).

As a means of launching such a service, Telecom Provider CLARO in partnership with PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos) the LPG Supplier, Challenger Transport Company Ltd (926-6414) the Technology Partner and Gas Pro (928-7301) and IGL Gas Ltd (923-8434) the Distribution Partners, would launch a promotion for the Christmas to introduce this concept to the Jamaican people.

This is already a practice in Dominican Republic and would be a hit with the people on Jamaica in conjunction with the CrackBerry Christmas Giveway of Christmas 2010 as described in my blog article entitled “Blackberry Bashing - The phone I hate so much that I would give it away for free”.

The prize to the customer would be a vehicle retrofit being given to one lucky person each day of Christmas of 2010 as a means of rewarding Telecom Provider CLARO’s Customers and Subscribers for being loyal despite the challenges (get it…………Challenger float right in oh so neatly……..!!) of the harsh economic times

Cost cutting and cost savings are easily achieved by the JA$90,000 retrofit, courtesy of Telecom Provider CLARO, as a sign of solidarity with Jamaican People and the harsh economic times which the world is currently going through due to the recession in North America a.k.a. The United States of America.

It would also, as a spin-off, benefit Telecom Provider CLARO in term of having a cheaper fuel to run their small fleet of motor vehicles as well as their generators being retrofitted to use LPG.

This is keeping with the general mood now being felt among Telecom Providers as it relates to efficiency of operation, especially in the light of increasing electricity costs going forward as more people begin to catch on to the idea of Wireless 3G Broadband as explained in my blog article entitled “Alternative Energy - A Telecom Provider's Strong Tower”.

Thus I give you the annex to the CrackBerry Giveaway Christmas Promotion of Christmas 2010 which is a value added service launch and an annex with Telecom Provider CLARO’s service, promoting the interests of Challenger Transport Company Ltd (926-6414).

The Technology Partner and Gas Pro (928-7301) and IGL Gas Ltd (923-8434) the Distribution Partners and PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos) the LPG Supplier, which ironically has the interest of Carlos Slim, the owner of AMX…………but that connection is fodder for another nice little article.
